Apopka Police officer Tanya Culver was arrested Sunday, April 4, 2010, by the Sanford Police department on allegations of domestic violence. The arrest was officer Culver’s second in as many months on the same charge.

Tanya Culver, 36, was arrested late Sunday for violating the conditions of her bond in a March domestic-violence case. She is accused of firing a gun at her husband and threatened to kill herself on March 7, according to an arrest report.

Culver’s husband called police just before 11 p.m. Sunday to report that his wife, who has been ordered to stay away from him, showed up at the same bar he was at in Sanford and threatened to kill him and then herself.

Culver told her husband she “would end him, run him over and kill herself,” according to the report.

After her husband left the bar, Culver then went to their shared home and called him from a cell phone that had been left the house, the report states. During that conversation she again threatened to kill herself, the report said. Culver was also ordered to stay away from their home. She is being held without bond at the Seminole County jail. Culver has been on unpaid leave from the Apopka Police Department since March 7.

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver and former Super Bowl MVP, Santonio Holmes, is facing a civil law suit from a University of Central Florida student suit based on allegations of the star wide receiver throwing a glass at the student’s face at a Orlando area nightclub in March of this year. Anshonae Mills, 21, is seeking more than $15,000 in damages for battery, assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress from the March 7 incident at Rain Nightclub.

Mills filed her civil law suit in Orange County Circuit civil court alleging that Holmes was intoxicated and quarrelsome offered at the J. J. Whispers nightclub and further offered to pay her to keep quiet about the incident and not press charges.

According to the civil suit, Mills was sitting on the arm of a couch in the VIP section while speaking with her friend, when Holmes approached her and told her to “get up.” When she refused to move, Holmes started “yelling and waving his arms” in front of Mills. She grabbed his hand to prevent him from hitting her. Holmes yanked his hand away and the two began arguing. Other patrons at the club who saw the spat intervened to keep Holmes from grabbing Mills, the suit states. While the two were separated, Holmes threw his drink, glass cup included, at Mills’ face. She was hit on the right side of her face and cut near her eye.

Mills said she felt pressure from Holmes and Orlando police officers and gave a short, incoherent witness statement and said she did not intent to press charges. An incident report by Orlando police was not completed or available for public inspection Monday, more than 21 days after the attack.

This is the second time in a month that a Steelers player is accused of attacking a woman. Earlier this month, Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was accused of assaulting a college student in Georgia. Roethlisberger has not been charged.

Public records show Mills has two prior arrests including an arrested in June on a domestic violence charge, which accused her of pushing her boyfriend into a wall at Pegasus Landing apartments. She was jailed, but the charges were later dropped, records show.

Tilden Law was recently hired to defend a client in a Domestic Violence Injunction hearing in Orange County, Florida. Domestic Temporary Restraining Orders “TRO” are commonly sought by individuals who are in fear of repeat or future violence from another and there is a domestic relationship between the parties either by marriage, blood or shared residence.

Our client a resident of New York, was served with a restraining order from Orange County Circuit Court as a result of allegations of violence and threats made by his daughter, an Orlando resident. Contained in the court file were 67 pages of documents and affidavits in support of the petitioner’s position and request for the temporary injunction to be made permanent.

During the cross examination of the petitioner at the hearing, Mr. Tilden showed that there were no credible threats to support her allegations. As a result of our efforts, the judge entered a order dismissing the injunction at the conclusion of the hearing.

If you have been served with a Domestic Violence Injunction in Orange County, Seminole County or the Orlando, Florida area, please contact the experienced TRO defense attorneys at Tilden Law for an initial and confidential consultation, 407-599-1234.

A judge sentenced Chris Brown to five years probation and six months community labor for the beating of Rihanna an issued a stern admonition to the singer.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg told brown he could be sent to state prison if he violated any term of his sentence, including an order to stay away from the pop star for the next five years.

Brown will serve his sentence in his home state of Virginia. The judge says she wanted to ensure that Brown, 20, performs physical labor instead of community service, such as mentoring young people. A felony charge of making criminal threats was dropped. Rihanna did not attend the sentencing.

A Casselberry police officer was suspended after his arrest on a charge of battering his wife according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. The wife of the 37 year old officer ran to a neighbor’s house with her 4 year old son and said her husband had slammed her head on a kitchen counter. The couple had been apparently arguing over an affair the husband was involved in when the wife called his girlfriend a name. The officer became enraged and carried her from their bedroom to the kitchen where he slammed her head onto a granite counter top. The wife had a lump on her head and a bruise on her biceps according to a deputy. Casselberry police confiscated his police car, gear and gun and his AR-15 rifle.
